Tina Donnelly speaks out on seasonal flu jab

9 Dec 2016

RCN Wales Director encourages frontline nurses to have the flu vaccination this winter

With RCN Wales showing its support for the Beat Flu campaign in Wales, Tina Donnelly, Director, RCN Wales speaks out on the importance of this seasonal flu jab:

"Our Chief Executive and General Secretary Janet Davies had a flu vaccination this year to encourage nurses on the frontline. Up to one in four frontline health care staff may become infected by flu every winter, even in a mild season."

“We are acutely aware that this is individual choice and cannot be mandated, however, it is nurses’ responsibility to keep themselves as fit as possible so that they do not put patients at risk and we would urge our members to have the flu jab."
