Conference focuses on dignity in dying

25 Oct 2016

Nurses, hospice staff and representatives from interested organisations attended a conference in Birmingham exploring end-of life issues.

Hosted by RCN West Midlands and the National Council of Women, the event also focused on the rights of people who are dying and their families.

Speakers ranged from politicians, including Baroness Finlay of Llandaff, a member of the House of Lords and a professor of Palliative Care, to lawyers and charity employees.

Paul Vaughan, Director of the RCN in the West Midlands, said: "The conference was very informative and engaging. It dealt with sensitive issues in an open but duly respectful way. It was a great opportunity to work with the National Council of Women to help nurses and other professionals who deliver end-of-life care increase their knowledge."

A report of the conference is available on request by emailing Tim Baggs at the RCN West Midlands regional office.
