Senior Healthcare Assistant wins top award

Richard Gardner, a senior Healthcare Assistant for North East London Foundation Trust, based in Thurrock, has won a top award for his work promoting safety in the workplace.

Richard was named Safety Representative of the Year at the Royal College of Nursing’s (RCN) Congress in Liverpool, after being nominated by other RCN members for his outstanding commitment to the RCN and its members.   

Richard has been a member of the RCN since April 2014 and became a RCN Representative in November the same year.  

The RCN Awards recognise the exceptional work carried out by accredited RCN representatives who have made a difference in their workplace and shown outstanding commitment to the RCN and its members.  

Teresa Budrey, Regional Director for the Eastern Region said: “I am delighted that Richard has received this award in recognition of all the hard work that he does for our RCN members.  Safety representatives provide an invaluable service, helping to improve health and safety in the workplace. Richard is also a valued member of the Essex Branch.
