Message of support for Indian Nursing Colleagues

30 Apr 2021

In response to the current COVID-19 wave in India

In response to the current COVID-19 wave in India, Rita Devlin, Acting Director of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) in Northern Ireland said:

“The RCN stands in solidarity with our nursing colleagues in India who are working tirelessly to provide lifesaving care to patients. Their expertise is crucial to meet the enormous challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is vital that the international community works collaboratively to develop global solutions to bring about a rapid end to the pandemic. This virus has affected most parts of the world we live in and we must never lose sight of the impact it can inflict upon people’s lives.

“We welcome the intervention by our Health Minister, Robin Swann to offer three oxygen generation units as part of the government’s humanitarian response to India’s COVID-19 crisis. “We know that many of our Indian members will be worried about loved ones at this time. Our thoughts are with them, and the RCN is committed to supporting our members and their families at this difficult time.”
