Nominate a colleague for our excellence awards

22 Jul 2020

Now is the time to nominate someone you know for an award to celebrate excellence in BAME health and social care.

Planning is underway for a week of online events celebrating Black History Month 2020 across Yorkshire and the Humber.

We will have a series of workshops and presentations for members to sign up to taking place during the week beginning 12 October, all details will be added to our website and Facebook pages as they are confirmed. The theme for 2020 is 'Our Voices, Our Presence, Our Power.'

Nominate a colleague

As part of these celebrations you can now nominate someone you know for one of our annual excellence awards, rewarding someone who has gone the extra mile to innovate and improve health and social care for black and ethnic minority communities.

Previous winners have included Mrs Gloria Hanley in 2018, a former community midwife who brought together a group of retired nurses and midwives to initiate a successful community health project and Alice Waweru, a matron who was nominated in recognition of her outstanding dedication, positive role modelling and leadership within her trust.

Winners' workshop

Nominations will close on 31 August and winners will be selected by a panel of judges from the RCN, NHS and previous winners. All those selected will then be invited to a special creative writing workshop with local writer Ian Clayton. Ian is an experienced and award-winning writer from West Yorkshire and you can read about his work here.

Please email Alice Nicholls for further information and to nominate, nominations will close on 31 August.
