Do you know someone who has made a positive difference to the working lives of international nurses? Then nominate them for this year's 'Making a Difference' Awards - fill in the form here.
RCN South East's 'Making a Difference' Awards form a key part of our Black History Month celebrations, where this year we will be celebrating international nursing staff.
International nurses have worked within our Health and Social Care services for many years, but we know that this has not always been a rewarding or respectful experience for all. Many of you will be aware of unfair treatment along with disrespectful behaviour and attitudes towards international staff from colleagues; experiences which leave these nurses feeling devalued and unwelcome within their own workplace.
RCN South East is inviting you to nominate an individual who has made a positive difference to the integration of international nurses into their team, hospital or service.
The individual could also be a nurse who has taken a negative experience and channelled it to ensure that future recruits do not and have not faced similar situations.
The individual you nominate must be from the black, Asian and minority ethnic nursing community, or someone who has proven themselves to be an ally to this community. You could nominate someone who has been and continues to be proactive in promoting and challenging anti-racist behaviour through action and education both of themselves and others in the course of their work.
We ask you to take a moment to reflect on the work of your colleagues and consider whether their achievements are worthy of a nomination.
