Dame Yvonne Moores, Chair, Florence Nightingale Foundation, and former Chief Nurse for England presented Mr Walker with an engraved silver dish.

Geoffrey Walker has served the Foundation as a board member, Deputy Chair and Honorary Vice President over the past 22 years, with his term ending this year, the International Year of the Nurse.  He said that he will continue to support and work with the Foundation.

On Geoffrey’s invitation Dame Yvonne also spent time with staff on the Treatment and Investigations Unit and the Oncology Assessment Unit at Poole Hopsital. She spent time listening to their stories of working through this pandemic and how it has affected them.  She thanked them all for their work providing health care during this difficult time.

Geoffrey Walker said: “It is so important that senior officials take the time to visit and speak to staff. I cannot thank Yvonne enough for doing so, as she really boosted the morale of the staff by taking time to hear from them.”
