New Interim Director for Royal College of Nursing in Scotland

The Royal College of Nursing’s new Interim Scotland Director, Colin Poolman takes up post today.

A registered nurse for over 30 years, Colin has been a key member of the RCN Scotland team for many years, most recently as Associate Director for Pay, Terms and Conditions.

Colin has also worked across the UK and spent time working as an Associate Director in RCN Northern Ireland just before the pandemic as well as operationally leading the RCN UK Pay Programme supporting the RCN’s Fair Pay for Nursing campaign.

Welcoming Colin as a member of the RCN Executive Team, Pat Cullen, RCN General Secretary & Chief Executive said: “We are delighted that Colin is taking on this leadership role for Scotland. Colin brings a wealth of knowledge, commitment and ambition for our members, our organisation and the profession. He understands the pressure our members are under and will be working with the Scotland, and wider RCN UK, team to ensure nursing staff get the recognition they deserve.”

Colin said: “The pandemic has presented significant challenges for our members and has compounded long standing issues. The RCN has been making sure their voice is heard by political leaders and employers across Scotland’s health and social care sectors. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead the dedicated staff team in Scotland as they continue to support nursing staff as we move out of the pandemic and into recovery.”
