RCN celebrates Care Home Open Week

27 Jun 2022

We’re championing the essential and highly skilled work of nursing staff in care homes.

Member of staff with resident in care home and dates of Care Home Open Week 2022 Care Home Open Week takes place between 27 June and 3 July. It provides an opportunity for the public to meet care home residents, learn more about social care, and take part in activities.

It’s also a chance to promote career opportunities in the care home sector and develop year-round community support for care home residents and workers.

RCN National Officer for independent health and social care Clare Jacobs said: “We’re proud to support Care Home Open Week and celebrate the work of hardworking and skilled nursing staff employed in this sector.

“There are around 30,000 RCN members working in care homes delivering highly complex specialist care to residents. Their care means residents are supported in managing multiple chronic health conditions, enjoying safe and comfortable lives. They also receive high quality palliative care at the end of their lives.

“We want to say thank you to these staff for delivering essential complex care to the most vulnerable people in our society.”

The RCN Care Home Network provides members with a supportive environment to share best practice, offer solutions and help improve care. It’s for nursing staff who work in homes for the entire age range, across all clinical needs.

Care Home Open Week is an initiative started by Championing Social Care
