RCN President and Deputy President elections now open

20 Jun 2022

Members can nominate themselves for these important nursing representative roles.

RCN President's chain Members have until 4.30pm on Wednesday 20 July to put themselves forward for election to become the next RCN President or Deputy President. The elections are carried out separately but concurrently and members will be elected for two years starting from 1 January 2023.

The President and Deputy President act as ambassadors for the nursing profession and represent the RCN to its members, stakeholders and the public across the UK and internationally. They also serve as full members of RCN Council.

Chair of RCN Council Carol Popplestone said: “RCN Presidents and Deputy Presidents have embodied the ambition, vision and values of members for more than a century, influencing nursing and improving patient care.

“Now is your chance to take on one of these prestigious roles, ensuring the voice of nursing is heard. I would urge all those who feel they can contribute to put themselves forward to help play their part in raising the profile of our safety critical profession.”

Candidates standing for election must have their nomination supported by two RCN members, be a registered nurse and have been an RCN member themselves for at least five consecutive years immediately prior to the closing date for nominations.

Find out more about the two roles and nominate yourself for election by completing our online form before 4.30pm on Wednesday 20 July.
