RCN Wales Responds to the Publication of Guidance on Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for COVID-19

2 Apr 2020

RCN Wales response to new UK published guidance

Helen Whyley, Director RCN Wales, said: "The RCN is pleased that the guidance on PPE has finally been published. Our members have been asking for this ever since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic so this has been a long time coming.

The guidance will cover our members working in all health and social care settings, including hospitals, community, and mental health services and I will be looking at the roll out and implementation across Wales. Protecting nurses and health care workers will also mean protecting their patients and their families.

Moreover, the dedication and commitment of nurses and health care support workers has been unwavering during this crisis. It is now imperative that the Welsh Government ensures that the supply of PPE meets demand by guaranteeing that those who require equipment have access to do it when carrying out their roles."
