Welsh Government pledge £10 million to social care in Wales

10 Jan 2017

RCN Wales welcomes this investment which will help to ensure a sustainable social care sector in Wales

Of the news that the Welsh Government has committed £10 million a year to ensure a sustainable social care sector in Wales, Tina Donnelly, Director, RCN Wales said:

“Following our call last year for further funding to be invested in social care in Wales we welcome this news, helping to ensure that the resources are in place to support the patients who require care in this sector.”

“The Minister for Social Services and Public Health, Rebecca Evans AM announced that this investment will go towards helping manage the financial impact of the national living wage being introduced in this sector, as well as ensuring a fully registered workforce by 2022. This commitment means that health care staff in this pressured area will be provided with sufficient pay conditions whilst also ensuring training is provided so that all workers reach a professional standard that should be expected when it comes to front line patient care.”
