Independent sector nurses' network

The RCN is here to support and represent members wherever they work and members working outside of the NHS are equally important to us.

Although the majority of nurses and health care support workers who work within the independent sector are based in nursing and care homes, the sector spans a broad range of workplaces, including hospices, GP surgeries, private hospitals, charities and voluntary community services.

A growing number of services that were formerly provided by the NHS have now been tendered out to private companies.

Network meetings

We hold regular meetings for all RCN members working in the independent sector. Our meetings this year will take place online 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm on:

Become a representative

We are keen to recruit more RCN representatives who work within the independent sector. As an independent sector RCN representative, you would have the opportunity to make an even greater difference to patients and the working lives of your colleagues – as well as increasing your knowledge, developing new and transferable skills, and influencing important decisions.

If this is an area of work that interests you, and if you would like more information about becoming an independent sector RCN representative, please contact northern.region@rcn.org.uk
