Helping to shape and influence devolution, integration and sustainability and transformation networks (STPs)
Devolution is here
Local Councils and the NHS now have far greater control over Greater Manchester's £6bn health and social care budget. Local authorities and the NHS are working closely to integrate health and social care services.
As part of the RCN's work to highlight some of the important issues and challenges ahead, we held a highly successful conference, entitled 'Evolution, Devolution, Revolution' during May 2016 which brought together members from across the region to find out more about devolution and discuss its impact on nursing, nurses and patient care. As a result of the conference, the devolution network was established to help influence and shape the future.
Future meeting dates
All meetings are held from 2pm to 4pm in the RCN North West regional office, Chesham House, St Georges Square, Bolton, BL1 2HB
What we do The network works closely with the RCN regional staff to use their individual and collective nursing knowledge and skills to influence integration and locality plans and develop relationships with local Councils and CCGs in order to protect and improve patient care. Specifically, the network aims to identify the challenges arising from devolution and the new 'landscape', its impact on service delivery, patient care, nursing and nurses as they emerge; Work collaboratively across all localities to generate potential solutions to try to overcome these challenges; and identify the support and resources required to support local activists and members to engage and influence.
