Fertility Preservation

Published: 07/04/2017
Publication code: 005986
This publication provides information for nurses who are supporting and caring for those beginning treatment for potentially life-limiting diseases and where the treatment may adversely affect their ability to have children in the future. It also encompasses those who may wish, for non-medical reasons, to defer having children until later in life, for example members of the armed forces or those considering gender reassignment surgery. It is important that registered nurses understand the reality of what is possible now, what may be available in the future, and to support people to manage fertility should they become infertile due to illness/treatment or through choice for non-medical (social) reasons.

Some of our publications are also available in hard copy, but this may entail a small charge. For more information and to order a hard copy please call 0345 772 6100 and select option five.

You can download all electronic publications from the RCN free of charge.
