Pamela F Cipriano

Dr Pamela F Cipriano 

Dr Pamela Cipriano (PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN), an international nursing leader, is the immediate past President of the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and served as the President of the American Nurses Association from 2014-2018. She is Professor Emerita at the University of Virginia where she served as Dean of the School of Nursing for three years during the pandemic.

Dr Cipriano has extensive experience as an academic medical center executive. She has led efforts to prevent burnout and improve the well-being of the workforce and increase nursing’s impact and influence on policy to improve global health care.

She currently serves as Co-Chair of the UHC2030 Steering Committee to advance the achievement of universal health coverage, a key aim of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. She is the recipient of numerous honors and awards including being named as a Living Legend by the American Academy of Nursing in 2023.

She is a proud Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing. 

Kevin Fong

Dr Kevin Fong

Kevin Fong OBE is a medical doctor, broadcaster and professor with a special interest in space medicine.

Dr Fong has had a varied and prestigious career to date, including consultant anaesthetist and anaesthetic lead for Major Incident Planning at UCL Hospitals. He is a leading figure in space medicine in the UK, serving as the co-director of the Centre for Aviation Space and Extreme Environment Medicine (CASE Medicine) at UCL.

Dr Fong earned degrees in astrophysics and medicine from University College London, followed by a master’s degree in astronautics and space engineering from Cranfield University.

He launched the UK’s first undergraduate course in Space Medicine and Extreme Environment Physiology and has contributed to several high-level reviews of human space exploration strategy.

Dr Fong has brought science to the public eye as a presenter of programmes across the BBC and Channel 4.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Fong was NHS England’s National Clinical Advisor in Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response.

Dr Fong was awarded an OBE in 2019 for his services to medicine and healthcare.

Mozhdeh Ghasemiyani

Dr Mozhdeh Ghasemiyani

Mozhdeh Ghasemiyani is a clinical psychologist with nearly two decades of experience in trauma-focused therapy, child development and crisis settings.

For more than a decade, she has worked with Doctors Without Borders (MSF), where she continues to support international mobile staff,  including nurses and frontline healthcare professionals – operating in high-stress and humanitarian environments. Her work focuses on strengthening psychological resilience, supporting mental wellbeing, and addressing the impact of prolonged crisis exposure on health workers.

In parallel, she works at Rigshospitalet, Denmark’s largest hospital, where she supports frontline healthcare professionals and contributes to improving psychosocial working environments within the national health care system.

Mozhdeh also has extensive clinical experience working with vulnerable children, including unaccompanied refugee minors. Her expertise bridges trauma-informed care, developmental psychology and the long-term protective role of education in shaping resilience and opportunity for children affected by adversity.

She holds a master’s degree in psychology from Aarhus University and has completed postgraduate training at the University of Oxford, George Washington University and Johns Hopkins University.

Born in Iran and resettled in Denmark through the UNHCR quota system, Mozhdeh brings both professional expertise and lived understanding to her work on dignity, resilience and long-term opportunity for vulnerable children worldwide.

Nicola Ranger

Professor Nicola Ranger

Professor Nicola Ranger joined the Royal College of Nursing in December 2022 as the Chief Nursing Officer.

In 2024 she was appointed General Secretary and Chief Executive of the RCN. She was previously Chief Nurse and Executive Director of Midwifery at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London. Before that, she held Chief Nurse posts at both Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

She has also held a number of senior nursing roles at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. Earlier in her career, she worked at America’s George Washington University Hospital in Washington and at Mount Sinai Medical Centre in New York.
