Moral distress and compassion fatigue (reconnecting with the joy in nursing)
20 May 2026, 08:00 - 08:45
This session will explore moral distress and compassion fatigue in nursing, examining how ethical tensions, workload pressures, and sustained emotional labour can impact wellbeing, professional fulfilment, and retention. Drawing on current evidence and reflective practice, the session will support delegates to recognise and name these experiences in themselves and others. Importantly, the session will conclude on an uplifting note, focusing on finding joy and meaning in nursing work, even in challenging environments.
This session is aimed at all nurses, student nurses and registered nurses across all specialties and career stages. It is particularly relevant for those in leadership, education, supervision, or wellbeing-focused roles, including Professional Nurse Advocates and those supporting teams in practice.
