The RCN is saddened to announce the death of Peter Davis, who served members in a range of elected roles over the years and made a significant contribution to nursing and the College.

Peter served as Vice Chair of the RCN UK Stewards' Committee, Chair of the RCN West Yorkshire branch, an accredited rep at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and was an active member of many RCN forums. He was also recently elected as RCN Council representative for Yorkshire and the Humber, with his term due to start in January 2027.

After graduating from the University of Exeter in 1995, he worked in a range of settings including urological nursing, occupational health, bed management and sexual health, as well as workforce planning, education and managerial roles.

Professor Nicola Ranger, RCN General Secretary and Chief Executive, said: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Peter. Throughout his time as an elected member, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to nursing staff, patients and the values of the RCN.

"His breadth of experience gave him a strong understanding of the challenges facing nursing staff across different settings and career stages. He was a passionate advocate for the profession and brought dedication, integrity and compassion to every role he held. His contribution to the RCN and to nursing will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

"On behalf of the RCN, I extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time."

Peta Clark, RCN Regional Director for the Northern and the Yorkshire and the Humber regions, said: “It was a privilege to work with Peter, whose commitment to supporting members never wavered.

“He was deeply respected across the region, for his insight and work to champion the issues that matter most to nursing staff. He’ll be greatly missed by colleagues and members alike.

“Our thoughts are with his loved ones and everyone who knew him.”
