Staffing for Safe and Effective Care
At Congress 2017, the membership of the RCN raised the alarm on the growing nursing workforce shortages across the UK, and their concern at the implications on patient safety. We have undertaken extensive engagement with members, RCN Boards, and nursing workforce experts, which we set out in this report. The outcome of this engagement is a set of RCN principles which provide high-level objectives which most meaningfully represent what we need to achieve on staffing for safe and effective care, though legislation, statutory instruments and guidance, and sufficient funding, in every country in the UK.

Clinical Imaging Requests from Non-Medically Qualified Professionals
This guidance provides advice and good practice recommendations for employers and health care professionals involved in clinical imaging processes, regarding requests for all modalities of imaging procedures from non-medically qualified health care professionals. This has been developed in collaboration with the Society and College of Radiographers.

Second RCN COVID-19 Vaccine Survey Report
In April we surveyed our members to better understand how access to the COVID-19 vaccine has developed over the first few months of the vaccination programme. This period is particularly relevant as nursing and health and care staff were identified as a priority group for vaccination. We received 20,370 responses from nursing staff in different roles and settings across the UK and this report provides an overview of the findings.
