RCN Northern Region
County Durham and Darlington

County Durham and Darlington

If you are an RCN member and you work within the County Durham or Darlington area, you are automatically a member of the County Durham and Darlington branch.

The branch is your voice in the RCN. As well as sending delegates to the RCN's annual Congress, we have representation on the RCN's regional board.

We hold regular meetings where we discuss issues of concern to local members. As a member you are invited to attend these.

If you would like to attend a branch meeting or contact a member of the branch executive, please contact our regional office on (0191) 511 5801 or email

The branch president is Cate Woolley-Brown and its chair is Michael Appleby.

2016 County Durham and Darlington branch meeting dates

All meetings take place at the RCN Northern region office, Avalon House, St Catherine’s Court, Sunderland Enterprise Park, Sunderland SR5 3XJ.

Please let us know if you plan to attend: email

Wednesday 5 October at 9.30 am.

This will be the branch's annual general meeting and it is important that as many members as possible attend it, so please save the date in your diary and seriously consider coming along, even if it is the one day a year you can spare.

Branch executive elections at the AGM

Places on the branch's executive team are up for election at the AGM, and you have a chance to make a difference by electing your branch executive team - or joining it. In the County Durham and Darlington branch, the places available are the president, the chair, the secretary, the treasurer, and two further branch executive members.

Further detail in our branch officer role descriptors document are available here

Influence the strategic direction of your branch by attending and voting, or by standing for election yourself.

Branch executive membership is a great personal and professional development opportunity. If you wish to stand for election for a branch executive position, please email identifying which seat you are interested in standing for and for which branch.
