Responding to the latest Ipsos 'state-of the nation' report RCN Chief Nursing Officer Professor Lynn Woolsey, said:
“These figures show just how far and fast public confidence in the NHS has fallen. But it won't come as a surprise to exhausted, underpaid nursing staff who are forced to work in crumbling hospitals, while patients line corridors. Any new government that hopes to turn things around cannot shirk the big issues, including fixing the staffing crisis, eradicating corridor care and reforming social care.
"The new prime minister has pledged to do things differently and that will resonate with nursing staff up and down the country. As he enters Downing Street, he should do so knowing that if he backs nursing staff, they will back him and help rebuild confidence in our NHS.”
