RCN announces influential speakers for Congress 2024

Our annual nursing event returns with keynote talks from 3 inspirational leaders.

Congress speakers Pat Cullen, Linda Silas and Gareth Thomas

On Monday 3 June, members will hear from RCN General Secretary and Chief Executive Professor Pat Cullen in her annual keynote speech. As a general election draws closer, Pat will reflect on the unprecedented challenges facing nursing, and how the RCN continues to strengthen its position of leadership across all aspects of the profession. Pat is one of 3 keynote speakers at this year’s RCN Congress, which takes place in Newport, Wales, from 2–6 June.

Senior nurse leader Linda Silas joins us on Tuesday 4 June to talk about her experiences and insights campaigning for safety critical nurse-to-patient ratios. Linda is one of the international experts who spoke at the RCN’s Safe Staffing Summit in December demonstrating how nurse-to-patient ratios have been implemented successfully in other countries.

As the President of the Canadian Federation of Nurses’ Unions since 2003, she is one of the most recognisable advocates for nursing internationally.

On Wednesday 5 June, delegates can look forward to a candid and compelling conversation with sporting legend Gareth Thomas CBE. The Former Welsh rugby captain will be discussing his personal journey with HIV, the stigma that still surrounds it, and why he founded the Tackle HIV campaign.

Members unable to attend in person will be able to watch a livestream of the speeches on the RCN website.
