Information: A Prescription against Pain

Reason you chose this book

I would really like to nominate the whole series of projects and books from the RCN’s Study of Nursing Care Project from the 1970s for demonstrating that nurses can conduct and lead research and that there are important nursing issues for research in the UK.

Review

Its message about the importance of giving patients information was something I carried with me throughout my clinical and research career. I think our current students would find this series of books relevant as they address key fundamental issues of nursing care and practice. I hope the RCN will be able to highlight the Study of Nursing Care Project in its celebrations. It should perhaps look at commissioning a similar series of research projects as this type of nursing research is very rarely conducted in the UK due to current funding sources but is so badly needed.
