Reflections on care

Nursing staff at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon

Lynne James, Ward sister

Reason you chose this book

This is a book that I have writen along with colleagues at Ysybyty Cwm Cynon in Cwm Taf University Health board. It is beautifully illustrated by a physiotherapy colleague. It has been inspirational for me to see the passion that nurses have for their practice transferred into verses and quotes.

Review

The book contains around twenty five poems and additional quotes written by staff about care delivery and what being a nurse means to them. There is also a thought provoking poem written by a former patient. The production of the book has been a passion for me after the idea developed during organisational development work. A copy of the book will be available on each ward in Ysybyty Cwm Cynon and a copy kept in the hospital chapel for patients and visitors. The poems are heartfelt honest and passionate the illustrations colourful and intricate. It is the passion for care that is demonstrated in each verse that inspires me and makes this one of my inspirational books.
