Health promotion: planning and strategies

Gill Coverdale, Professional Lead for Education Standards and Professional Development

Reason you chose this book

I was completing my Masters in Public Health and was Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Primary Care at the time, so this book was my bible! The author, Keith Tones, was my teacher and dissertation supervisor and Jackie Green was my very esteemed colleague.

Review

This book, which has been updated several times by the authors and now new contributors, remains contemporary. It covered contemporary discourse on health promotion philosophy, theory, research and also the planning and delivery of health education and health promotion, so it is a useful guide to implementing health promotion strategies for public health practitioners and students – both under and post graduate. Whether one is exploring health promotion for the first time, or enhancing and developing knowledge, this text provides a clear and comprehensive resource presented in a clear and easily understood way.
