Join us for the launch of our new exhibition: "Moved to Care: Stories of Nursing and Migration".
From the colonial legacy of missionary nurses in the nineteenth century to the Windrush Generation, migration has had a huge influence on healthcare today. Hear from activists, artists and nursing pioneers about how migration has shaped their lives and work. There will be plenty of time to look around the exhibition and participate in activities on migration and care with the RCN and Migration Museum teams.
Speakers:
- RCN President Bejoy Sebastian, a critical care nurse born and raised in Kerala, India
- Romalyn Ante, award-winning poet and nurse, born and raised in the Philippines
- Dr Calvin Moorley, Professor of Diversity and Social Justice at London South Bank University, born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago
- Dr Claire Chatterton, on the history of migration and nursing
- Haleema Aziz, a mixed media artist and creator of 'Inside Home' sculpture, is based in Manchester, England
- Lewis Garland, Karina Arevalo, and Akrem Naser from Fences and Frontiers.
There will be a separate room available for attendees who need to break their fast, and light refreshments will be provided.
Talks will not start until after 6pm.
