Band 2 Health Care Support Workers undertaking Band 3 duties to vote on NHS Wales collective agreement

Proposed measures include validating roles and making corrective payments.

RCN pay vote
RCN Wales has launched a ballot asking Band 2 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) members to vote on a collective agreement that seeks to recognise and compensate those who have been carrying out Band 3 responsibilities.

NHS Wales have proposed a validation process, by which employers will work with staff to determine whether they are working at a Band 3 level, and corrective payments for those moving into a Band 3 role as a result. Eligible members are advised to read the full details of the agreement before voting. The draft agreement in full and answers to frequently asked questions can be found on our website.

How to vote

Eligible members would have received an email with a link to vote. You can also vote online. If you are eligible but haven’t received an email, please ensure your membership details, including your band, are up to date in MyRCN to continue receiving important updates from RCN Wales.

Nursing staff working above and beyond their responsibilities need to be rewarded for the safety critical work they do. Member voice is essential in strengthening RCN Wales's negotiations on pay and recognition with the Welsh Partnership Forum – which includes the Welsh Government, NHS employers and trade unions.
