This award recognises those who have succeeded in raising standards of care for their patients and service users and who have made an outstanding contribution to the care of adults.

Described as an exceptional leader by her nominator, Keri-Ann has transformed rehabilitation and frailty pathways. Through early intervention, multidisciplinary collaboration, integrating hospital and community care, she has improved patient outcomes and independence, while reducing avoidable admissions. Respected as an empathetic mentor, she is celebrated for fostering a positive, high-performing team culture and elevating nursing practice in rehabilitation, creating a lasting impact on her service and community.

The judges were impressed with Keri-Ann’s role in leading her team towards shared goals that are underpinned by national and local strategy. Head Judge, Eileen McKenna, said: “Keri-Ann is a passionate advocate for her patients and staff, and this shone through in her interview. Her work to ensure her patients are treated in the right place at the right time, and by the right people, is key to her success. The reduction of length of stays and readmission rates, are clear evidence that her approach is having a positive impact.”

Commenting on Keri-Ann’s win, Colin Poolman, RCN Scotland Executive Director, said: “I’m pleased to congratulate Keri-Ann on her award. Her commitment to showing what nursing can do in frailty care and the impact it can have is commendable. A truly deserving winner.”
