RCN South East celebrates Black History Month 2025
RCN South East region was delighted to welcome members from across the region to its Black History Month celebrations this October.

This year the region focused its celebrations on the theme of 'Stronger together: embracing diversity for a brighter future'.
Attendees to the event, held at Gillingham Football Club in Kent, heard sessions from a host of esteemed speakers including:
- Bejoy Sebastian, RCN President
- Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Bishop of Dover and Bishop in Canterbury
- Christina Ebanks, Director of Education, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Buckinghamshire New University
- Collin Moodley, Social Care Team Co-ordinator, Adult Community Services, States of Guernsey
They were also entertained with a fantastic performance by Vision Signing Choir, led by Karen Clifford, CEO at Vision Communication.
Cess Wigley, RCN Senior Officer and RCN South East Black History Month Lead, said: “We were delighted to once again see members from across the South East region travel to our Black History Month event and hear from our incredible speakers and the brilliant Vision Signing Choir.
"This event was a chance to celebrate our differences and understand each other better, while also recognising that we all want to belong, to be respected and to be successful.
"It was also a joy to see members bringing their culture in the form of dress and national mementos."
