Nominations open to sit on influential RCN committees

Now's your chance to join the RCN's trade union and professional nursing committees

Nominations are now open for members to be elected to the RCN Trade Union Committee (TUC) and the RCN Professional Nursing Committee (PNC). 

We’re encouraging members from across the nursing workforce to nominate themselves. This will allow important decisions made by these committees to accurately reflect the members we represent. In your nomination, you must also provide the details of two other members who have agreed to support you. 

Joining the RCN’s TUC will give you the chance to influence how the College develops as a modern, progressive trade union by working together with other passionate, accredited representatives from across the UK. If elected, the term of office will start on 1 January 2026 and finish on 31 December 2029. The student seat’s term will start on 1 January 2026 and finish on 31 December 2027. 

The seats open for election are:

  • Eastern
  • East Midlands
  • London
  • Northern
  • Northern Ireland
  • North West
  • Nursing Support Worker
  • Student.

Nominations for the eight seats on the TUC are open until 4.30pm on Thursday 4 September.

The RCN’s PNC oversees professional matters affecting nursing. From safe staffing to education, public policy and research, the PNC is responsible for promoting the advancement of nursing as a profession.  

If elected, the term of office will start on 1 January 2026 and finish on 31 December 2029. The student seat’s term will start on 1 January 2026 and finish on 31 December 2027. 

The seats open for election are: 

  • Nursing Support Worker
  • Scotland
  • South East
  • South West
  • Student
  • Wales
  • West Midlands
  • Yorkshire and the Humber. 

Nominations for the eight seats on the PNC are open until 4:30pm on Tuesday 2 September 2025.
