Have your say on the future of RCN branches

RCN branches have played an important role in the College for more than a century. But nursing, workplaces and member expectations have changed significantly, so we're reviewing our branch structure to ensure local member participation, engagement and representation grow and strengthen into the future.

Your participation in our survey is key to moving this work forward.

The review, which is evidence-led and shaped by member opinion and participation, has been prompted by concerns about how effectively the current branch structures meet the needs and expectations of our members.

Feedback from members so far suggests there are challenges around engagement, activity and access within their local branches, and with more than 90 RCN branches, there’s also a variation in members’ experience.

The review will engage our members on five key areas that focus on the existence, purpose, mission, structure and resourcing of local branches. You can find out more about this and other key questions by reading our FAQs.

All members deserve an equitable experience and access to opportunities, support and communication throughout their careers. That's why RCN Council has commissioned this review to understand how branches currently operate.

We want to hear from you about what is and what isn’t working, if there are barriers which prevent you from participating, and what matters most to you and your colleagues. As much as this is a review of what exists, it's also an opportunity for members to articulate the direction they want to see.

Strong local branches are essential to building our collective strength, building activism and ensuring members’ voices shape the future of nursing.
