The RCN has developed guidance for registered nurses who have a duty to speak up and raise concerns if they believe they are unable (for whatever reason) to deliver safe and effective care to patients. The guidance is to be used in conjunction with the NMC code. Raising concerns is not an option but a duty and a key part of a registered nurses practice but it must be done in a professional and constructive way.
