Survey of RCN Members’ Experiences of Long COVID 2024
It is widely recognised that health care workers, including nursing staff, are at greater risk of contracting COVID-19 and subsequently long COVID. This RCN survey report gives a snapshot of our members’ experiences of long COVID from a personal and professional perspective, including snapshots that illustrate the life changing financial, emotional and physical consequences of long COVID and at times is a difficult read. The report includes recommendations which are not only informed by these findings, but by the current experiences shared by our members and the support we’ve given them.

Published annually, Nursing in Numbers sets out the strengths and vulnerabilities of the nursing workforce in Wales in one useful reference, with recommendations for Welsh Government action. The NHS workforce statistics include our annual estimate of the total registered nurse vacancies in NHS Wales. The report also covers the independent sector workforce, with information on social care, general practice, and agency nursing. This version is in Welsh, there is also a version in English, under publication code 011 864.

Eyesight deteriorates gradually with age. This updated publication has been developed to assist nurses working with older people who present with eyesight issues. It includes details on eye health, visual impairment and ageing, highlights nurses’ responsibilities and signposts for further information.

Consultant Nurses: Expert Patient Care
Wales needs more consultant nurses. A consultant nurse is an expert nurse that bridges the worlds of clinical practice, research, education, strategy and leadership in order to improve patient care. It is a unique and important nursing role. Through statistics and case studies, this report shows how consultant nurses directly benefit patients as well as health services, setting out five practical actions for the Welsh government to take. This is the Welsh version, there is also a version in English under publication code 011 862.

RCN Submission to the Pay Review Body 2024-25
This year’s RCN submission to the Pay Review Body sets out the case for a substantial and above inflation pay rise to address the worsening nursing workforce crisis and the long-term reduction in the value of nursing pay. We urge the PRB to demonstrate its independence and recommend a substantial pay increase to help the recruitment and retention of nursing staff.
