Using workforce data and nurses’ lived experiences, it shows that stress is not an individual failing but a predictable, preventable occupational hazard that affects staff wellbeing, retention and patient safety. Honouring nursing staff means treating psychosocial risk with the same seriousness as physical harm and taking meaningful action to make work safe.
