Support for student members in Wales
Student streamlining outcomes: RCN Wales is here to help
Students recieving their Streamlining outcome will be going through a difficult and uncertain time. On this page, you can find information on next steps, RCN support resources and contact details to get the help you need. This page will be updated regularly as the situation develops.
What action RCN Wales is taking
RCN Wales is working closely with HEIW and NHS Shared Services to monitor the situation. We are doing this by:
- Raising your concerns with Welsh Government, HEIW and NHS Wales
- Advocating for increased job opportunities and fair processes for student members
- Calling for creative solutions to job availability in the current climate
- Last week we attended a Graduate Summit with the Welsh Government to look at solutions
Didn't secure a role? What happens next?
- Students not initially matched on 25 June will receive support and information on additional or alternative opportunities
- If no suitable roles are available in Wales, and students have fully engaged with the streamlining process, they can be released from the two-year NHS Wales bursary tie-in requirement.
- Students can also apply for NHS and non-NHS opportunities outside of Wales. In this situation, if students have fully engaged with the streamlining process, they can be released from the two-year NHS Wales bursary tie-in requirement.
