The NHS workforce statistics include our annual estimate of the total registered nurse vacancies in NHS Wales. The report also covers the independent sector workforce, with information on social care, general practice, and agency nursing. There is also a version in Welsh, under publication code 011 865.

Royal College of Nursing responds to the new Mental Health Bill being introduced in Parliament
RCN Chief Nursing Officer Lynn Woolsey, said: “Modernising the Mental Health Act is welcome, but these long overdue reforms won’t be successful unless we address the crisis in the workforce. A third of all nursing vacancies are in mental health services, meaning vulnerable people are routinely denied access to timely and appropriate care."

Working with Dogs in Health Care Settings
This updated guidance highlights the precautions that should be taken when dogs are brought into various health care settings and provides clear guidance on all reasonable safeguards that should be put in place to protect patients or residents, visitors and staff. It covers the role of both the dog and the owner/handler and includes information that all organisations should take into account before allowing a dog to access their premises. This includes staff with assistance dogs as well as patients, visitors, and people and organisations who have contact or who work with assistance dogs or therapy dogs.
