Royal College of Nursing Representing nurses and nursing, promoting excellence in practice, shaping health policies

Our work

Find out more about the work of the District Nursing Forum and the other organisations we work with

What we are currently working on:

The Royal College of Nursing District Nursing Forum seeks to represent the role of the District Nurse, and the community teams that they lead, at a national level.

At a time when continuing professional development is under threat, we seek to promote the importance of the Specialist Practice Qualification for leaders of teams, to raise the profile of the fundamental and vital roles undertaken by District Nurses and their teams and the impact of an ageing population, increased patient acuity and austerity measures on day to day caseload management.

We represent District Nursing across several work streams, always aiming to raise our profile as a profession, provide a positive input and support our colleagues across a variety of service provision.

The RCN DN Forum, where appropriate, works to raise the profile of District Nursing alongside:

  • Queen’s Nursing Institute
  • Health Education England
  • Association of District Nurse Educators
  • National District Nurses Network
