Older People Sight Loss Early Detection and Action Workshop (for Health Care Support Workers and Nursing Students)

Almost two million people in the UK have significant sight loss. A demographic shift has seen more people living longer and needing support to live with sight loss and other co-morbidity challenges
This seminar is aimed at Health Care Support Workers and Nursing Students working in any sector, but is particularly relevant for those in contact with older people in community and residential settings.
Why is early detection and correction of sight loss important:
- Sight loss can increase social isolation, add to confusion, increase the likelihood of falls and trips and reduce quality of life
- Sight loss early detection and correction can increase the confidence of those affected to once again go out and socialise
- Detection sight loss can prevent misdiagnosis of dementia
The lead facilitator for this workshop will be Nicola Dunlop, Adnexal Nurse Consultant, Moorfields Eye Hospital
This event is free for all to attend, however booking is essential.
