RCN Shropshire Local Learning Event: Pain management in palliative care

Presented by Maggie Garmson, Clinical Educator in End of Life Care, this workshop will examine the concept of total pain in patients, pain descriptors and the types of physical pain experienced by patients, as well as the medication management of these types of pain. It will also incorporate an urgent branch Annual General Meeting.
The session will also cover different types of pain assessment and management in both planning and delivering care, along with EOL symptoms and their management.
You can book your place now on this Learning Event, which is free for RCN members. Non-members will be charged £20 + VAT, but this fee will be reimbursed if the attendee joins the RCN on the day.
RCN Shropshire Annual General Meeting
Unfortunately the first branch AGM was not quorate, which means not enough RCN members attended the meeting to elect a branch executive committee.
This means the RCN Shropshire branch is currently at risk of being dissolved and merged with a neighbouring branch.
It is vitally important for the future of the RCN Shropshire branch that members attend this AGM, even if it is the only branch meeting they attend this year.
Come along and help make a difference - you can help shape the future of the branch, have your say on how the branch is run and learn more about the activities it undertakes.
And if you want to get more involved, you could stand for one of the branch committee posts, which includes branch chair, secretary and treasurer. Being a branch committee member is a great personal and professional development opportunity – you can find out more about the roles here.
If you want to put yourself forward for election, please email the regional administrator on westmidlands.region@rcn.org.uk. This will ensure that anyone who can't attend the meeting itself is still able to stand. Alternatively, you can put yourself forward at the meeting itself.
