This free webinar is being led by the RCN Bladder and Bowel Forum committee to support member engagement and to provide an educational session on the Fundamentals of Lower Bowel Dysfunction.

This free webinar will be held on Thursday, 16 May 2024 between 1.30pm and 2.45pm.
The educational session on the Fundamentals of Lower Bowel Dysfunction will cover the following areas:
Bowel function
- review of the anatomy and physiology of the bowel
- what is normal defecation?
Definitions and causes of bowel dysfunction
- constipation and poor bowel emptying
- faecal incontinence.
Assessment investigations, including digital rectal examination (DRE), diagnosis and prognosis. Conservative management and interventions to improve and maintain bowel function (including DRF and transanal irrigation)
There will be an opportunity for a Q&A session with the RCN Bladder and Bowel Forum committee at the end of the presentation.
