This programme aims to help Primary Care Nurses provide a safe and effective anticoagulation service and improve the detection rates and treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation.
Target audience
Nurses providing anticoagulant clinics in primary care
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this 1-day programme participants will:
• Understand the signs of atrial fibrillation and the risk of stroke.
• Have developed and updated skills to manage INR/Warfarin clinics and the relevant SOP’s.
• Understand the pharmacology of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs).
• Have developed and updated skills to help manage patients on NOACs and warfarin therapy.
• Be able to update their use of the RAT system to manage patients on warfarin therapy.
