Deadline for RCN Scotland Board Positions is fast approaching

31 Aug 2020

Just a few days left for nominations for places on RCN Scotland’s board for terms of office starting on 1 January 2021.

Being an RCN Scotland Board member is a rewarding way to get more involved with the RCN and will enhance your skills, expand your network and give you the chance to make a difference. It also provides an invaluable experience with plenty of personal career development opportunities.

The RCN board, currently chaired by Tom Wilson is responsible for governance of the RCN in Scotland, ensuring that the priorities set by Council are actioned, and ensuring that members' voices are heard and contribute to overall RCN strategy and planning. Board members work closely with the country director to set and deliver priorities for members in Scotland.

Here's what some of our board members had to say about their experience:

"Being on the RCN Scotland Board has really put me at the heart of decision making with regard to RCN Scotland policy and governance, you are informed and engaged at every level and of course with the board development days given the appropriate training and knowledge to fulfil the role."

"If you want to influence the future of the nursing profession, make things better for patients and staff you need to step up and get your voice heard. For years I kept my head down providing safe, effective, high quality care to my patients. It took me a long time to realise it was only about the money. Our patients need us to stand up for them just as much as the RCN needs you to stand up for your profession. It’s no use keeping your head in the sand and waiting for someone else to do it."
