Members to be consulted on new pay package from Welsh government

RCN Members in Wales will be consulted on the additional offer from Friday 10 February.

Fair Pay for Nursing campaign light projections at Senedd Today, 8 February, the Welsh government has released a statement detailing its supplementary offer to health unions for 2022/23. This is the first time the Welsh government has entered into direct negotiations with us to add to the NHS Pay Review Body’s recommendations. In its statement, the government says that this is the best offer they can provide before this financial year closes. 
 
RCN Wales will now consult members on this offer for just over two weeks, from 12 noon on Friday 10 February until 9am on 27 February. All eligible RCN Wales members on Agenda for Change contracts will be balloted online and will be asked whether they accept or reject this offer.  
 
Helen Whyley, Director RCN Wales said: ‘Nursing staff’s’ tireless commitment to demonstrating how much fair pay and patient safety means to them – including through industrial action – has led to this additional offer from the Welsh government. Our members have made it abundantly clear to their politicians the urgent need for a fairly paid and safely staffed workforce. 
  
Members' resolve throughout this campaign, and strike action in recent months, has undoubtedly led to this new pay offer from the Welsh government. Our members will decide where the RCN goes next, by voting on the offer in a consultation. We are in no doubt that they will again act in the best interest of their patients and the entire NHS in Wales."

Please complete your ballot as soon as you receive the link.  We will keep you updated on next steps, which will depend on the outcome of the ballot, as soon as possible following the ballot closure.
