While welcoming the Scottish Government’s commitment to improving support and care for the growing number of people with dementia, the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Scotland says that this will only become a reality if there are enough people with the right skills and training in the NHS workforce. Registered nurses are at the forefront of assessment and ongoing care for people with dementia so nurses working in A&E, hospitals, community teams and care homes are crucial to the successful delivery of the new dementia strategy.
