POLICY: Regulation of Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures
RCN Scotland has concerns that currently Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures are not always carried out appropriately and safely. We welcome attempts to improve safety and oversight but this will require sufficient resourcing for regulators.
RCN Scotland members are involved in NSCPs and should be acting in a safe and appropriate way. However, the proposals would mean that some higher risk procedures could be carried out by non-healthcare staff. RCN Scotland questions whether the proposed approach correctly protects service users, notes that licensing and regulation will need to be resourced to be effective and also questions whether there is sufficient data on complications and risks of NSCPs to be confident in the proposed approach.
