BLUE

BLUE is a play written by award winning playwright Brian Daniels that covers issues that impact nurses’ well-being, including moral distress, compassion fatigue, menopause, vicarious trauma and suicidality.

To write the play, Brian spoke to 30+ RCN members, drawing on all of their individual experiences to create BLUE. Experiences including Hannah Cadogan, Lead Nurse for Lived Experience. Hannah is a nurse that speaks openly about her attempt to take her own life. The isolation Hannah felt when it happened to her caused a desire to help nurses talk openly. One nurse a week on average in the UK is lost to suicide. Hannah wanted to ensure other nurses don’t feel alone like she did.

John Groves

This is a superb piece of work on every level. I felt quite drained with emotion by the end of the play itself, and even more so having reflected with others on what we had seen and been affected by. Very highly recommended – if you get a chance to see it, take it!
