Industrial action ballot in Northern Ireland

Following months of uncertainty over HSC pay in Northern Ireland, we’ve launched our ballot on industrial action and strike action.

Votes must arrive with Civica Election Services by 12 noon on Friday 20 November.

Year after year, nursing staff in Northern Ireland are forced to fight for a pay award they’re entitled to receive. Regardless of the political landscape, the fact remains that the Northern Ireland Executive has failed in its responsibility to set a budget and pay hard working health care staff.

Our members have shown remarkable patience, but now we must send a clear and united message that this situation cannot continue.

What you need to do

This is a statutory ballot and, in line with legal requirements, will be conducted by post. From 14 October onwards, eligible members will receive their ballot paper from Civica Election Services.

Your ballot paper will ask two questions:

  1. Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike (work to rule)?
  2. Are you prepared to take strike action?

It’s vital that you answer both questions. We’re recommending that you vote ‘Yes’ to both.
