RCN Student Ambassador of the Year Award

Who can be nominated

This award is for RCN Student Ambassadors who have made a difference at their university and shown outstanding commitment to the RCN and its members, especially student members. 

Your nominee may have:

  • established, or re-invigorated, a nursing society at their university
  • started a petition or campaign on a topical nursing or education issue
  • recruited RCN student members, or encouraged others to become more involved as RCN Student Ambassadors
  • provided peer support to help other student nurses
  • organised an event that has benefited others on their course
  • raised money for a nursing or health care charity.
RCN Student Ambassadors who completed their course before the RCN Awards 2026 ceremony are eligible for the RCN Awards 2026, as long as they were an RCN Student Ambassador during 2025-26.

Who should nominate

You should think about nominating someone for an award if you:

  • are a student nurse and have been supported by an RCN Student Ambassador
  • have benefited in some way from the efforts of an RCN Student Ambassador
  • are a tutor or staff member at a university where an RCN Student Ambassador has made a real difference to their fellow students
  • have been impressed by an active RCN Student Ambassador within your RCN branch
  • have witnessed exceptional service and support by an RCN Student Ambassador.

Members of the Awards Committee cannot submit nominations for this award.

Please note that RCN Student Ambassadors are not able to nominate themselves. Non members and RCN members are able to nominate. Further guidance can be found here.

When to submit your nomination

Nominations are open for the RCN Student Ambassador of the Year 2026. The deadline for nominations is Friday 17 October 2025. Submit your nomination here.

The prize

The prize for the winner is £500, while the commendee will receive £250.
