Get involved with NICE
If you're a member, there are a number of ways you can get involved in the development of NICE work programmes through the RCN.
Review draft consultation documents and represent the RCN at meetings
If you have expertise in a particular specialism and are interested in feeding back on any of NICE’s draft consultation documents, then we'd like to hear from you. Your comments will inform the RCN’s response to NICE.
Requirements
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and competency in the relevant area
- Contactable via email with an ability to meet strict deadlines
- Able to report back following NICE meetings

Become a member of a NICE guideline committee
Most NICE committees have at least one nurse as a member. Becoming a member of a NICE guideline committee ensures the nursing perspective is considered from the outset of the development of the guidance. Selection criteria is based on your knowledge and experience of the approaches, interventions and activities in the area under consideration.

- Each year the RCN sponsors one NICE guideline committee member to attend the NICE annual conference. Conference fees, accommodation and travel expenses are included.
NICE technology appraisals
From 1 April 2016, the RCN will no longer be involved in NICE technology appraisals, however members are encouraged to continue to share their expertise with NICE if they wish to get involved with this specific work programme. For more information, see NICE Guidance.
