This report examines nursing workforce data from January 2020 through the COVID-19 pandemic, to the present day. In the past two years, the complex external context has only highlighted and exacerbated existing, long-standing issues with health and care workforce supply and retention in the UK. This document sets out the nursing workforce picture in the UK – as far as the limited and inconsistent data allows.
